Really getting to grips with
teaching now and am able to plan a week ahead at each
placement with constructive lessons. Apart from the serious
matter of teaching them English we do have a lot of laughs
together. They are really a lovely group of students who are
all so willing to listen and learn. One guy, Isnard, comes
straight from work and permanently falls asleep. So I
photographed him and added the words ”no sleeping in class”
and had a large print made for the wall. It caused great
amusement and he took it in good part and insisted upon
having the print.
The people here are so very
friendly and always ready for a laugh. I have been invited
to one students home for supper and to meet his family – I
shall go this week.
Cultural tour this week of
the biggest market in Salvador. Full of every type of
produce you can images plus pottery, cane and basket work
and much more. unfortunately we also got shown the meat
market that is enough to make one become a vegetarian for
life.
Finally took boat to the
Island of Morre da Sao Paulo. A absolute
Island paradise with wonderful beaches and full of bars, restaurants,
boutiques. A complete away from it all. No cars and all
streets have sand instead of roads, OK until it rains,
A basic apartment on the beach cost only £12.00 including
breakfast and with ensuite and aircon thrown in.
Unfortunately it rained all the first day that somewhat took
the edge of it. Did get sun today thought before we left.
Survived a very rough 3 hour crossing but many didn't. |
